How content is sourced
Brand listings on The Index Beauty are compiled from publicly available sources, including business directories, brand websites, social media, and founder submissions. Logos, product images, and brief excerpts of brand copy appear under fair use for editorial reference.
If you believe content infringes your copyright
If you believe material on The Index Beauty infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to act on behalf of, send a takedown notice to hello@theindexbeauty.com with the subject line "DMCA Takedown Request."
The notice must include:
- A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed.
- The exact URL of the page on theindexbeauty.com where the allegedly infringing material appears.
- Your contact information, including name, email, and a physical address or phone number.

- Your physical or electronic signature.
Notices missing required elements may be declined or returned for completion.
Response time
Valid notices are typically reviewed within seven days. Material confirmed to be infringing will be removed promptly. The Index Beauty will notify the original submitter or affected party when content is removed in response to a DMCA notice.
Counter-notices
If you believe content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice. Send it to hello@theindexbeauty.com with the subject line "DMCA Counter-Notice." The counter-notice must include:
- Identification of the material that was removed and the URL where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your contact information, including name, email, and physical address.
- A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the judicial district in which your address is located, or if outside the United States, any judicial district in which The Index Beauty may be found.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Valid counter-notices are forwarded to the original complainant. Removed material may be restored if the original complainant does not file a court action within ten business days.
Repeat infringers
The Index Beauty reserves the right to refuse listing of brands or sources whose material is the subject of repeated valid takedown notices.
Faster path for brand founders
If you are the founder of a brand listed on The Index Beauty and you simply want your listing removed, you do not need to file a DMCA notice. Email hello@theindexbeauty.com with your brand name and we will remove the listing within seven days. The DMCA process exists for copyright disputes specifically; brand removal does not require it.
